Living like a local

Harmonising the lives of traveller and local resident can be an exciting dance of understanding cultural norms, overcoming language barriers and generally learning a daily rhythm different from your own. Yet it is so rewarding in the end to feel like you have really had the privilege to get to know the Greenlandic way of life to an extent that far surpasses what most travellers do.

In practice, there will always be a finite amount of time you have on holiday, but “living like a local” is more of a mindset of wishing to immerse oneself in the local environment, engage meaningfully with the people and spend time together in such a way that both of you are left touched by the experience.
