Kangerluarsorujuk Cabin

Just a half-hour boat ride, or ten minutes' helicopter ride, from Qaqortoq, Kangerluarsorujuk Cabin offers a cosy getaway in idyllic local farm surroundings.

The cabin is a handsome one with fine red exterior details. Inside, the attention to detail continues with handmade woolen seat cushions and dried flowers collected over the years.  The natural wood gives a warming feeling, and windows in all the right places give the perfect view of the farm, fjord and mountainside. Keep them cracked, and you'll be able to hear the river rushing as you tuck in at night.

Two couples, or a small groups of friends or travel companions, fit well here (4 persons). The bedroom has two double beds, foot to foot, and the dining table bench in the main room can be converted to a single bed if needed (for a 5th person). The cabin is pretty luxurious as far as remote fjord cabins go - it has both a flushing toilet and electricity!

For the best culinary experience, you should coordinate to eat with the farmers, Lars & Makkak, and in some cases, also with their grown children and grandchildren, when they visit. In fact, you would be a little "crazy" to pass up tasting delicious homemade farm cuisine. Dishes like lamb sausage, smoked lamb leg, marinated salmon and so much more are gastronomic experiences to remember for a lifetime.

The cabin, however, is equipped with a tea kitchen (running water, small countertop oven with two burners, refrigerator & freezer), allowing you to prepare simple dishes, if you wish. A nice-sized dining table certainly beckons to sit and stay a while at family-style meals.

There are ample hiking opportunities in the area, but please do not walk through the bright green fields, including those close to the buildings on the immediate farm. There is a nice, new gravel road that connects Kangerluarsorujuk Farm with the next farm over, Eqaluit Akia, passing several lakes and advancing further inland on the Tasikuluulik peninsula. This is a recommended route. (Note: there is no accommodation at Eqaluit Akia Farm)
